A strong 7 magnitude earthquake struck eastern Russia on Saturday, the US Geological Survey said. The quake struck 109 km (67 miles) north of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, USGS said. It struck at a relatively deep 153 km. There were no initial reports of damage or casualties. A powerful earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.0 has struck the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia's Far East, seismologists say. The earthquake, which struck at 3:25 p.m. local time on Saturday, was centered about 95 kilometers (59 miles) north of Yelizovo, a town in Kamchatka Krai. It struck about 159 kilometers (99 miles) deep, making it a relatively deep earthquake.
